Hello from Anna and Rob

A farmhouse that’s used to visitors.

Wrenfold has been a farm, a post office and, for the last fourteen years, our home. We run it as a small B&B with six rooms, so there’s always time for a chat about which walk to do or where to eat.

There’s a lounge with a fire and an honesty bar, a drying room for wet boots and a garden that catches the evening sun.

Breakfast, 8am to 9.30am

Worth getting up for.

Everything is cooked to order and served at one long table in the old kitchen, or at your own if you’d rather. Most of it comes from within five miles.

The full Kelderby

Bacon and sausages from the farm shop, free-range eggs, black pudding, mushrooms, tomato and beans.

Eggs your way

Poached, scrambled or fried, on sourdough from the village bakery.

Porridge

Made with oats and milk, with honey, cream or a dash of whisky.

Explore the area

A track running beside a dry stone wall through green hills

4 miles, about 2 hours

Kelder Beck and the old mill

Down Church Lane, over the stile and along the beck to the mill ruins. Mostly flat, muddy after rain. Leads on near the sheep.

A small waterfall dropping into a dark pool between mossy rocks

6 miles, about 3 hours

Gill Head waterfall

Up through Kelder Wood to the falls and back along the top. One steep climb, then the best picnic spot in the dale.

Three walkers on a path across heather moorland

8 miles, about 4 hours

Raven Edge

The big one: heather moor, wide views and a trig point at the top. Take a map and a flask, as there's no café up there.

From the guest book

Kind words left on the hall table.

“We came for two nights and stayed four. Rob’s walk notes were spot on and the dog didn’t want to leave the Orchard Room.”

Helen and Mark

Orchard Room, April

“The quietest night’s sleep we’ve had in years, then a breakfast that kept us going all the way up Raven Edge.”

Priya

The Hayloft, October

“Anna had the fire lit when we got back soaked. Lovely house, lovely people, and the Plough is a six-minute stroll.”
